Julie is the Recreation Director for the City of Montgomery. She has been with the City of Montgomery since May 2008. Her responsibilities include the management and implementation of city-wide special events, fitness, children's programming, and pool operation and maintenance. She came to the City of Montgomery with eleven years of experience in fitness management and health promotion programming with the TriHealth Fitness and Health Pavilion. Julie has a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Education (K-12) from the University of Akron, and a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Cincinnati. Julie is a Certified Pool Operator, a Certified Playground Safety Inspector and a Certified Special Event Associate. Julie has experience teaching health education and group fitness classes and coached the Xavier University Dance Team. Julie is also a graduate of the Leading, Educating and Development Program from the University of Virginia, Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service.

Jimmy Ekstedt

Jimmy is the Recreation Specialist for the City of Montgomery. He has been with the City of Montgomery since May 2025. His experience includes six years of working with youth and adult groups at YMCA Camp Kern, including as the Ranger’s Apprentice Program Leader, Outdoor Educator, and Leadership and Conferencing Facilitator. From 2021 to 2023, Jimmy was an Aquatic Biologist at Jones Fish Hatcheries (now Jones Lake Management). Jimmy has also worked with special needs students as a paraprofessional at Mt. Orab Middle School, and taught Chemistry as a long-term substitute at Sycamore High School. Jimmy has a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from the University of Cincinnati, and a Minor in Business Administration. Jimmy is an Officer Candidate in the Ohio Naval Militia, and looks forward to commissioning as the Public Affairs and Recruiting Officer in early 2026. The Ohio Naval Militia is a reserve unit (State Defense Forces) that serves alongside and assists the Ohio National Guard at Camp Perry in Port Clinton, OH.
