
The City of Montgomery proudly announces that Mike Young has been named Assistant Fire Chief. Mike has served as a firefighter/paramedic in Montgomery since 2013 and has been in the fire service for over 16 years. Mike has previous experience with Springfield Township, Springdale and Maderia Indian Hill Joint Fire District. Mike is also part of the Hamilton County Urban Search and Rescue Team and an Ohio fire inspector.
Mike served 8 years in the US Navy Seabees as a Construction Mechanic and was part of several civil engineering projects. He was deployed overseas to the Middle East to support Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Mike holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Fire and Safety Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and a Master of Business Administration with a focus in Human Resources and Leadership from Northern Kentucky University.
“I became a firefighter because I find fulfillment in serving others and enjoy the dynamic, fast-paced environment,” said Mike. “The role allows me to utilize my problem-solving and mechanical skills while making a positive impact in my community.”
Mike and his wife live in Montgomery with their three children. In his spare time, Mike enjoys cooking, fitness, traveling, sports, and spending time with his family.
