Smethurst House, c. 1869

The first owner, James Lloyd Smethurst, was a carpenter by trade. He was elected Montgomery’s first mayor in 1910. The house originally sat at the corner of Remington and Montgomery Roads. It was moved to its current location in 1987 to save it from demolition.
