Human Resources Director


The City of Montgomery is seeking a responsible and dedicated professional for the position of Human Resources Director. This position plays a significant role as a member of the City’s senior management team and reports directly to the City Manager. Responsibilities include all aspects of human resources administration, including employee relations, hiring processes, collective bargaining, employee benefits, FMLA administration, workers’ compensation, and unemployment compensation claims management. Serves as a liaison to the Civil Service Commission. The successful candidate must possess initiative, strong leadership, management, and interpersonal skills, as well as solid written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with the public and all levels of internal staff.

A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in human resources administration in a comparable public sector organization is preferred. The successful candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in human resources administration, public administration, business administration, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred. The successful candidate must pass a background check and drug screen.
