A citizen of Montgomery for 30 years, Mike previously served on City Council from 2015 to 2023, supporting a wide range of initiatives that strengthened and developed the city’s sustainability, livability and economic future. In addition to his council time, he volunteered on Montgomery’s Environmental Advisory Commission, where he supported events such as the Saturday recycling collection, citywide garage sale, educational workshops and Adopt-A-Spot.

Mike is a U.S. Army Reserve and Ohio National Guard veteran with 15 years of service, which Mike considers his ultimate diversity experience. As a service member Mike learned the value of education, practice, teamwork, leadership and public service. He retired after 38 years with the Cincinnati Water Works and Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati where he worked with business customer, water quality and metering programs, bringing extensive experience in municipal operations, management and public sector problem solving to his upcoming Montgomery work.

Education is a central part of Mike’s life. He has been a student at the University of Cincinnati since 1980, earning three degrees and later teaching environmental courses at the University. He also continued his professional development at Cincinnati State, the Culinary Institute of America and far too many Army schools.

In his current profession, Mike teaches yoga up and down the I-71 corridor combining his passion for wellness with community building. Outside of work he enjoys practicing yoga and Pilates, walking the streets of Montgomery and Wyoming, OH, and cooking with the fruits and vegetables he grows at home or forages.

Mike and his wife have been married for 38 years and are proud parents of three children living around the world. He is honored once again to serve the residents of Mongomery and help build Montgomery’s future.
