Greg Vonden Benken

Assistant Police Chief Vonden Benken has been a police officer for 25 years. Prior to coming to the City of Montgomery in 1997, Vonden Benken served with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office as road patrol in Deerfield Township. As a police officer with the City of Montgomery, Vonden Benken was the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) officer in Sycamore Community Schools from 2000 to 2003 and was promoted to sergeant in 2003. Having earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from The Union Institute, Vonden Benken is also a certified National Incident Management Systems instructor. He is a graduate of the Police Executive Leadership College, the FBI National Academy and the Leading, Educating and Developing Program at the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service at the University of Virginia. Vonden Benken is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force as a crash/rescue firefighter and served at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
